Swona revisited

Findlay, John S.2014
Books, Manuscripts
This is the author's second book dealing with the island of Swona. He has collated information and images from people whose memories are still fresh regarding their experiences of the Rosie family who occupied the island for the greater part of the last century. It is a valuable record of the social and ecomomic life of an island during an era which has passed into history, and the imagery provides that extra dimension which seamlessly blends the past to the present. Other aspects of island life are covered in the chapters dealing with shipwrecks, the herd of feral cattle, the census records, and other relevant information. In addition the author has recorded the trips to the island by the Scapa Flow Landscape Partnership and by the BBC Countryfile team in recent years.
