This book records something of the experience of losing a father; an event that seemed to require a radical re-imagining of the self I thought I was. It began as an uncomfortable pile of papers, stashed away in a shoebox under my bed, added to every so often. It later became several documents on my computer, which were then edited and reworked, printed and added to the box, with marginalia. The drawings and texts came slowly too. How could time be important to a book that had at its core the slow death of a man?
