Kate Winslet and Saoirse Ronan star in this romantic drama written and directed by Francis Lee. In Victorian England, renowned palaeontologist Mary Anning (Winslet) scours the southern coast of Lyme Regis collecting fossils and shells to sell to tourists. When Roderick Murchison (James McArdle), a wealthy visitor from London, offers to pay her to look after his ailing wife, Charlotte (Ronan), Mary is unable to turn him down. She reluctantly allows Charlotte to observe her at work, and despite their differences a passionate romance develops between the two women.
